The tom groove in the intro should be played at mf ... almost as a background groove driving the feel of the intro. The snare on the & of beat 4 provides a subtle hint of the upcoming, headbanging beat.

When the beat kicks in on bar 9, be sure to nail a double crash (i.e. two crashes at once), exploding into the beat. Be careful not to rush beat 1 because you're coming from a quarter rest in bar 8. Count out "4 &" in bar 8 if it helps you keep time.
