Learn the Half-time Bridge from Heavydirtysoul
Both the bridge and the outro of this song feature a heavy-hitting, half-time feel. In common time (i.e. 4/4), the back-beat is usually emphasized on beats 2 and 4.
A half-time groove features the back-beat on beat 3, giving the impression that the groove is half the tempo. Josh Dun makes this change even more dramatic by crashing on beats 1 and 3 instead of straight quarters.
The bridge gets even tastier in the third bar when Dun slips in a bar of 2/4 with some quick crashes. The fifth bar of the bridge mimics the crash pattern but extends it to fill out the measure. The second line of the bridge is similar but features a short fill at the end for a smooth transition.
