Learn a handful of easy-to-grasp triplet fills that sound great. In this lesson, we explore re-orchestrating these patterns around the kit.
All of the fills below begin on beat 4 and feature either 8th note triplets or 16th note triplets. The concept of each fill is simple, but because we're breaking the triplets across two different surfaces, the resulting sound is unusual and attention grabbing.
The drum fills sound harder to play than they actually are, but many drummers fall out of time when playing triplets. Be sure to practice along with a metronome, starting slowly and gradually building your speed. it's important to maintain solid timing.
